Is there anyone much dumber than this bitch? The guy already CONFESSED before Valentine's Day and you REJECTED him. Now you're saying he confessed to you before your marriage? What do you expect from a guy whose heart is broken by YOU for 7 years? Like your rejection is just nothing?

Damn it. The first half was really awesome ride of emotion and feels, as expected from the original author... But now this happened. Yet again Setona Mizushiro's infamous "I don't know what to do, I'm confused." thinking of protagonist was played out here like her other protagonists in her other works. As much as I'm a fan of her, this is what I'm always sad for. That's why when Souta finally made a decision, I kinda felt like it wasn't gonna go well but I was happy for him hoping for a different ending. But who am I kidding, it would be the end of it all if this twist didn't happened, right? It's a cliche move of you, Setona Mizushiro. I love your works and support them but this is the kind of example where the protagonist get left behind and while the side characters has more firm characterization when they make their decisions.

Or better yet, they are gonna be so forgiving and stick with him until the end. Hahaha! I'm really hoping for a different ending, a realistic one. Blow me away until the end, Setona Mizhushiro-sensei.

Hi, have you read the manga? I'm really curious if the drama is going manga based. Did Saeko and Souta really had an affair in the manga?? I don't like where the story is going as of the moment but if they are just following the manga then I can somehow accept it.

@mskololia1 I blame the writing of the show. If her husband's behavior was shown before she got married as a bad fiance, it would have been easier to sympathize with Saeko or psycho like you said lol. She was made out to be a tramp right from the beginning even before we started seeing her husband's supposed bad side
5 months ago . Report . Reply
Avatar image

mskololia1

Agreed....He basically called her tramp in one of his fantasies. The background shows her as really shallow so the entrance of an abusive husband is OTT and only used to get her and Souta together and the audience to go along with it. Not happening here. I refuse to believe that she married and did not know what love and commitment were all about, but now that she has someone who worships the ground she walks on...she gets it. Show did not portray her as sooooo wounded a creature to elicit the desired sympathy and nod of acceptance. But, it's Souta's story so let that confectioner's ship sail...finally for him so his fantasy girl will become his reality. Oh, joy.... :)

Wow you got what I was saying. I am psyching myself up to being called a sexist again :P. Female characters are hardly redeeming in TV shows so I really have no hope for Saeko's character. I could forgive Souta because before it was all fantasy but not anymore. The scene with his dad meeting Saeko made me have false hope in this show but it didn't take a serious matter seriously and I just decided that this show is nonsensical and will simply be a guilty pleasure. OTT sounds for Over the Top right? lol, reminds me of OTP(One True Pairing I learnt from soompi last year) When I first came to America in 2008 I didnt know what LOL meant haha

mskololia1

First, I hope your stay in the USA has been more good than whatever. Second, the father son dynamic in this episode sealed the nonsense and unrealistic ending that is...eminent. I'm not happy with the protagonist at this point. Third, you have the interpretation of OTT right. :)

I find it actually really funny how I am being attacked like crazy on this forum being called a sexist and all that haha. @mskololia1 it took me a while to figure out which characters you meant by O and M. I was thinking M&Ms and was wondering if you were referring to one of their commercials. I don't really watch Oliver and Matsuri's scene. I think Matsuri is like her brother but painted more darkly. I might revisit their scenes and will try to watch their scenes from now on. I think Junpei is a good actor. On the main page of this show on gooddrama, I have been discussing his character with a fan of his for a really long time haha. If Oliver and Matsuri have anymore scenes together I intend to watch it, it would distract me from the other scenes that make me cringe.

You know...Saeko did not leave her wedding ring behind when she ran away from an abusive (?) husband and has not taken it off so what should that tell him....She's being pampered/adored so I do not see her letting this new phase in her life go easily since she has no "real" responsibilities apart from consensual sex, eating whatever Souta makes for her highness, and some odd cleaning. :/ The moral of the story is leaning towards marriage being a "placeholder" until whomever shows and then reciprocate....

I don't consider any of the characters close to real life characters except for Kaoruko. Just like the show with Takei Emi (which I am yet to watch) in which she was raped only to find out at the end she made it up. I am guessing Saeko wasn't physically abused either but then again I am not writer

@Timbone, I did not see the drama or movie you referenced but the thought did cross my mind that her husband may not have violated her too. The scene the next morning with his smile and reading the newspaper serenely. I thought the lack of an apology from her husband was the strangely missing; whereas Saeko apologized for her wrong behavior....IDK, but I hope he did not.

@Timbone: Again with your sexist thoughts... If you're speaking about "Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta", it was clear from the very beginning that it was all an act from Emi Takei's character to break up Miura and Toda's couple. It's clearly not the case here. I suggest you to watch "Last friends", maybe you'll say that the beating is all an act too... Now about violence against women, as today is International Women's Day, I thought that it would be helpful to you to learn a few informative facts (as you seem to be always in denial ("if a woman is beaten it's good for her", "if she's married, she should be more than happy, shut up her mouth and make up with her husband", "divorce is wrong because 'God' does not allow it", "all women are storytellers anyway", and so on...))

At this point, both Saeko and Kaoruko are getting on my nerves. -_- I'm totally pro-Erena! She just seems so genuine and can relate to Souta's past "heartbreak". To me, Souta was Saeko's back-up when things didn't work out with her husband. She's conceited and Kaoruko is just too bitter on the outside and can't properly express her feelings. Ohhh the complications. ID

I have gotten attacked as a Christian and others have been attacked for various reasons too. We are all biased and sometimes prejudiced. I think this is something to remember: We see what we want to see. I got to hear a wonderful quote in the third episode of the second season of the US TV show Perception "“The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.” " - Henri Bergson And its weird, I havent watched a US TV show in months, but I am on Spring break and didnt have anything to watch since The Mentalist is on a break haha

mskololia1

I'd say based on my perception-- Erena realized Souta was stupid early on, but liked him anyway; Kaoruko just now realizes his DNA is not what she originally thought; and Saeko only sees herself. Saeko's "running away from home" means she's probably going back home and I hope Erena has leaves the country again for a shoot and cannot be reached when he discovers what a total and complete douche bag he really is....Oh, and if you've been attacked, it may be because you were being sort of a jerk in your responses and not based on your faith. :)
About 6 months ago . Report

Actually it was not about me being a jerk. I know I can be cynical and overly sarcastic but it wasn't a response to the show per se. I said I was disappointed in the writing of Erena that she comes off as a weak character to me. I even said she had no friends which you might have corrected and said she had the gay Rikudo or whatchamacall him. Someone even quoted the Bible just because I said I felt Erena's character is a sexist stereotype. A supermodel, who is so alone she needed to have a sex friend to not fall into nothingness. I just see her character as eye candy :P

@Timbone: Problem is: you're literally spamming every discussion related to this show. Just look at how many comments you have posted to make your view point prevailing... The fact is, your comments about "moral compass", "normal woman" and the like are really disturbing. As I said previously, "normal women" do no exist. Each and any of them are different. Moreover, you seem to see no (big) problems with males' attitude. You were saying that you were "feminist" but no feminist would ever be claiming that a free woman, who stand for what she believes in, is in any way "weak". On the contrary, from a feminist point of view, it is the one who is shut down and do not express her feelings who is weak...
About 6 months ago . Report

Timbone

@hounohon I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. By normal I do not mean perfect no one is perfect. And seriously I am spamming the thread, thats laughable. You are simply personally attacking me. You see Erena as a person, I see her as a badly written character. You see Saeko's husband's abuse as justification for her leaving home. I see it as a badly manufactured plot point just to make an excuse as even before and after the marriage she was trying to have an affair. You are taking this personal and personally attacking me. I am criticizing the writing of the character. For one, Souta himself admitted that labeling the relationship "sex-friend" was and is wrong because it just made it easier for him to betray her. My grievance with the show, is that Erena's seems to just fuel Souta's importance and to create a harem.

In real life girl plays on a guy sympathy like Saeko she knows by playing the poor me card Souta after confessing will do anything for her. Guys like Souta believe these girls are angels they don't realize they are the biggest manipulators playing on their looks. Marriage is a game to them whether it is her marriage or the man is married. They actually prefer if the man is taken it makes it more interesting if there is competition wife and kids to leave behind.

Sadly, women are usually painted that way on TV. Its more of a stereotype now: The beautiful manipulative woman. Watch out boys pretty women are manipulative. Of course its true, they are exceptions but I got told that too as a young boy. It's sad that entertainment reinforces stereotypes instead of breaking them and opening our eyes to something refreshing.

Her husband was a total dick, and I dont care what country your from, if you are in a relationship, and you hit the one you love like he did, doesnt matter if you are boy or girl, you are officially sick, and ya need some help. Well, Souta is showcasing a "bad guy" image to all his women in this drama. He really does not know who he is.... @Merry, I am pronouncing Saeko's name phonetically because whenever I hear it psycho comes to mind.....And I never liked the character as she appears totally self-absorbed. She needs love and attention like we all do, but if Souta does not give her the time and attention that she seemingly craves I would not be surprised if it’s -- off into the arms of another lover like in her school-girl days She flits back and forth. He probably thinks his cup runneth over about now; I think it will always be half-empty with her because he will be in a constant state of flux trying to keep her...attention or entertained now that she knows how crazy he is for her.

I feel sorry for Saeko but she really doesn't seem interested in Souta. Koaruko's question did makes us a little aware of what she is thinking. She just wants to be loved. That is love for her.
